From our first clumsy attempts to build a successful "horseless carriage," to Henry Ford's innovative "mass production line," to the super-efficient hybrid cars and trucks of the future, this program uses rare photographs and archival film footage from the Henry Ford Collection to bring to life the fascinating story of how cars and trucks grew to become the world's most popular form of transportation. Students learn how automobiles and trucks work, what their advantages and disadvantages are, and how they affect our culture. The program has been specifically developed for classroom use and is organized around established standards. It functions as a full-length program or as focused support for specific study areas.
